Officer
changeovers: Nigel commented that it has been close to three years
in office, and is suggesting that changeovers are certainly welcome
if people are getting tired, though he does not have any particular
requests for people to step down. Patrick McPhelan commented that
he plans to step down shortly after the Barony's status (yes/no) is
finalized. Officers wishing to step down should ensure that they have
a deputy available and should coordinate through Nigel. Katarina Peregrine
is desiring to step down as Chronicler. Nigel has up to 13 more months
remaining in his Acting Seneschal term.
-
Baronial
Poll. We have "hit another speed bump." Nigel on the first working
day of September sent the request to do the poll, to the Kingdom Transitions
Deputy. The KTD forwarded the request to the Kingdom Seneschals (current
and incoming). Arianna commented that the heraldry must be completed
before the polling labels can be requested. It has been referred to
the Dragon Herald to figure out whether that means "name" or "name
and device."
Also, the choice of "abstain" must be included on the poll. Rosamund
has now taken over as Kingdom Seneschal. Rosamund has requested a
complete rundown and history, so that she has an up-to-date picture
of what is the past and present situation. Once she is assured that
the polling is being handled according to corporate and Kingdom policy,
she does not in principle object to proceeding with the poll.

Following
is the proposed poll wording, as supplied by Nigel. Questions 3 and
4 will probably have "Abstain" added as an option:

There
was group discussion of getting an ad into The Pale which would reach
all of the paid members in the Kingdom, though of course some would read
it and some would not. Catriona (Regional Seneschal) also suggested that
the Pale notice contain mention of the closing date for accepting Baronet
nominations.
The
planned wording for the ad in The Pale is as follows: "The proposed Barony
of Brendoken wishes to announce that the request for Baronial candidates
is now closed. "The polling for Baron and Baroness will be released shortly.
Your opinion is important to the future of this area. Please respond to
the poll. "For any questions, please contact the Acting Baronial Seneschal,
Forester Nigel fitz Maurice. 330-535-8065, e-mail obsidian@raex.com."
Katarina
handed out maps for the OhioMart demo and discussed parking provisions.
A detailed discussion and planning session followed, in which a good deal
of information was provided to those planning to attend. Katarina will
be posting additional notices to the e-mail lists.
The
next Baronial meeting will be held in Gwyntarian on October 28 at 2:00
at the old jailhouse next to Fred Fuller Park. Saradwen will make the
site arrangements.
