MINUTES FOR October 27, 2002
Host group: Marche Three Towers
Seneschal's Announcements:
Ailith requested that Robert ap Hywel send the electronic format
of the Portcullis to Katarina so that it may be more easily
formatted for web distribution.
-
Reminders:
- Items
are needed for the baronial fund-raiser auction at Gwyntarian's
Make
It or Break It event on Saturday, November 16. Please
contact Ailith via email
(preferred) or 330-875-4081 if you would like to make a
donation for the auction.
- Offices
requested to transition before the first of the year are:
exchequer, pursuivant, minister of arts, knights marshal
and web minister with the office of chatelaine to be added.
Ailith requests that transitioning officers keep her up-to-date
on their searches for successors (email is preferred).
Those wishing to apply for these offices should sumbit letters
of consideration and contact the appropriate officer by email
or phone. Contact information for all of the officers will
be sent to each group's seneschal.
-
Future
Plans:
-
Establishing a quarterly activity sponsored by the marshallate
and minister of arts, rotating host duties for these activities
with the meetings if practical. If not, have each activity
happen once in each group's area during the year. The activities
don't have to happen at a concurrent time.
-
Develop
a spring event.
Lots of discussion on this matter, with the following idea
put forward by Failenn ingen Tigernaig, Three Towers: use
the groundwork already laid for Three Tower's hosting of Northern
Oaken A&S, rapier and heavy fighting symposium to develop
a baronial event. Failenn noted that she had already enlisted
the help of members of Gwyntarian, and had been discussing
with friends in Alderford as well.
Event features:
- visits
by local landed baron/nesses to help us continue to map
out our goal of attaining full status
- 'Beat
a Baron' charity combat (pay a small fee to challenge a
landed or court baron in the lists) as a baronial fundraiser
Although there was no formal vote on this point, all attendees
seemed to be in agreement that this was an avenue to investigate,
with Failenn reporting progress at the November 23 meeting (Green
Library, Gwyntarian).
-
The
most updated copies of the charter (dated sometime late Spring
of 2000) are still being sought. Please look through your efiles
and hard copies to see if you have a copy of the latest charter.
Ailith's latest is much earlier, and she would like to review
the latest before deciding if an update is in order at this
time.
Discussion
Main discussion this meeting, besides the event brainstorming
above, was a list making exercise listing what we need to continue
on the full-status path.
Saradwen mentioned the need for strong leadership-a strong baron
and baroness; while noting that in her view, the area lacks a
couple with the requisite charisma at this time.
Gunther went into some detail on the necessity for presentation,
group visits, higher visibility for baronial officers, and concerted
group cooperation. He also noted that a timeline reviewing the
process to date would be handy reference for local seneschals
and would be useful on the webpage to help newer members in the
area who are familiarizing themselves with the baronial concept.
Ian Gourdon and Arwenna agreed with the visibility and timeline
concept, and with the need to produce a strong leadership couple.
Katarina mentioned the necessity for the officers and the baronial
couple to work well together.
REMINDER
The next meeting will be held on SATURDAY,
NOVEMBER 23 beginning at 1PM at the Akron
Summit County Library, Green Branch at 4046 Massillon Road, Green,
Ohio
