Officer Responsibilities

The term of office for an officer of the barony is three years. During that time, officers are required to submit their reports on time in accordance with the schedule set by their Kingdom superiors. Officers are also requested to send courtesy copies of their reports to the baronial seneschal's office. It is important for the seneschal to stay informed of activities in each specialty in the barony, thereby contributing to better communication in the barony.

Officers are requested to attend baronial meetings. If they are unable to attend, arrangements for a report regarding their office is necessary, either via a deputy or by sending a report to the seneschal.

The marshallate and minister of arts and sciences should, if at all possible, establish a quarterly rotating activity within the barony. The goal is to have at least one activity of each activity per year in each group. The activities do not have to happen concurrently, though they may.

Officer Transition Policy

Three months prior to the end of the term of office, the officer shall publish his/her intent to step down in the baronial newsletter, send notices to the group seneschals and post the same to the baronial e-list as well as the groups' e-lists.

Those wishing to apply for the office should send a letter of consideration as well as their SCA résumé to the officer and the seneschal.

One month before the desired end of office, the baronial officers will meet to review the candidates for the office. The final recommendation to Kingdom, however, will rest with the outgoing officer.

If an officer needs to step down before the end of their term, the same process should be followed as closely as possible.

If an office does not have an outgoing officer, those wishing to apply for the office should send a letter of consideration and their SCA résumé to the seneschal.

The outgoing officer is responsible for obtaining the change of officer form.
